Beatriz Milhazes | Galeria Fortes Vilaça

Color is a structural element in Beatriz Milhazes’s oeuvre. Her repertoire includes issues inherent to Geometric Abstraction, Carnival, Modernism, the Brazilian Concrete and Neo-Concrete movements, Op and Pop art. She paints flowers, arabesques, targets and squares on a plastic surface, and then transfers them to the canvas. In her collages, she superposes several layers of color using candy wrappers and shopping bags, creating a harmony of excesses in wich the pictorial impact mirrors her painting.
