Modelo para armar - Piscina, 2007 Oil under plexiglass 42 x 60 cm
To construct his paintings, Gil Heitor Cortesão appropriates photographic images from various origins including magazines, postcards, books on architecture, and his own photographs. Based on a structure defined by these images, he deconstructs outlines and surfaces, creating new planes and situations in urban landscapes and imaginary places. By using oil paint under Plexiglass sheets, he benefits from the transparency of the material to build his images from front to back.
