Janaina Tschäpe’s work is defined by the expression of an imagined narrative. Based on landscape and flora, the artist creates in her videos and photos a fluid universe inhabited by fictional characters dressed in sculptural costumes. This universe expands in organic forms, full of folds and inlets, of her paintings and drawings. Here, there is a precise balance between gesture – in the wide and firm brushstrokes – and detail.
