The work of Nuno Ramos has defied categorical definitions for more than two decades. His prolific production involves myriad themes, media and techniques. One of the artist’s main concerns is to challenge the materials he works with. He juxtaposes vaseline, glass, water, felt, marble, sand to observe how they react together. Mixing entropy with a profound knowledge of sculpture’s formal concepts, Ramos creates works that are striking for the sheer power of their “physicality”.
