In her installations, photographs, objects, collages, videos and drawings, Neuenschwander shows the viewers what has always been present in their environment, but uses to go unperceived. The issue of language is central in her work, which incorporates alphabets, maps, calendars and other codes of verbal and nonverbal representation. She often involves other people in the artistic production process, placing the signature/authorship question in an ambiguous light. In certain cases, the viewer themselves get involved in the completion of the work, during its exhibition.
